Writing Article Titles - How to Select a Title for Your Articles
The number one most important thing about selecting your title is to make it match exactly what you want the reader to get from your article. You are self-selecting the people who are going to be eventually clicking on your links, subscribing to your list, and buying your products. You must make the title match the person whom you want to read your article.
So let’s think for a moment about your web site. The buyers on your web site buy toys for children in their lives. That’s it – that’s all you have to sell, is toys. Now, you could have this philosophy in your head that anything you write about that will appeal to moms will get the right demographic to your web site. And that is right. But I am talking here about targeting the people who read your articles to be the ones that buy toys. Not all moms buy toys. But if someone reads your article because it has the name of a particularly popular toy this year, they might be a better candidate for buying a toy from you than if you target moms.
You see, dad, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and the like all buy toys. But not all moms buy toys, and certainly not in the immediate time frame after they have read an article about baby formula. Don’t get me wrong – I understand that you will get moms on your list if you write about baby formula. But I am talking here about targeting toy buyers in your articles.
So you must write articles geared towards toy buyers, period!
